The Tianjin Municipal Government in China provides international students with the opportunity to apply for the Tianjin Government Scholarship. The TGS Scholarship will pay for medical insurance, and a monthly stipend to help with living expenses and tuition. You should be aware that the Chinese Government Scholarship program and the Tianjin Government Scholarship program are not the same. The Tianjin Government scholarship is available to both present and prospective Tianjin University students for one year. The scholarship will be awarded on an annual basis. The master's program lasts two to three years, whereas the PhD program lasts four years. Additional information is provided below.

Scholarship Types and Values
- Master's First Prize:
- 30000 RMB is the tuition.
- Monthly living allowance: 1700 RMB (for a total of 10 months)
- 800 RMB is the amount for medical insurance.
- Master's Second Prize: 30,000 RMB for tuition
- First Prize in Doctoral Studies:
- 38,000 RMB is the tuition.
- Monthly living allowance: 2000 RMB (for a total of 10 months)
- 800 RMB is the medical insurance amount.
- Second Place for the PhD:
- 38,000 RMB is the tuition.
To be eligible
- Chinese nationals are not eligible to apply; all other international students are.
- The candidate needs to be in good health.
- Candidates for master's programs must be no older than 35 years old and have completed a bachelor's degree.
- Candidates for a PhD program must be at least 40 years old and have a bachelor's degree.
- If the candidate is a native English speaker, has finished their undergraduate or graduate studies in the language, and can provide documentation of their university's English language proficiency, there is no need for them to take the IELTS or TOEFL.
